I’ve always believed dentistry is a profession that keeps you on your toes, and that’s exactly what I love about it. No two days are ever the same, and I genuinely look forward to coming to work each day. Whether I’m helping someone achieve a brighter smile with veneers or relieving the discomfort of a toothache, it’s incredibly rewarding to know we’re making a real difference in our patients’ health and confidence.
Family is at the heart of everything we do at Wells Family Dentistry, and we truly mean that. Many of our patients have been coming to our office for 30 years, starting with my father when he first opened the practice and now continuing their care with me. I love catching up with these families, watching their kids grow up, head off to college, and being a small part of their lives along the way. When you join our practice, our goal is to build that same kind of lasting relationship with you.
I’ve been practicing dentistry for 13 years, but my connection to the field started much earlier. My father introduced me to dentistry at a young age and always told me we might work together one day, and we were lucky enough to make that happen. We spent six years practicing side by side before he retired, and it’s something I’ll always be grateful for. I learned so much from him, and I like to think he picked up a few things from me as well.
My Commitment to Education
I’m a proud native of Morehead City and a graduate of West Carteret High School. I went on to attend UNC Chapel Hill, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry, and later completed my dental education at the UNC School of Dentistry. During my time there, I was honored to receive the Academy of General Dentistry Award for clinical excellence.
Continuing education has always been a priority for me. I’ve pursued advanced training in areas like dental implants and orthodontics to ensure I can offer my patients the most up-to-date, effective treatment options. Staying current with new techniques and technology allows me to provide the high-quality care our patients deserve.
Outside the office, I stay involved in several professional organizations, including the Cape Lookout Study Club, Evidence-Based Study Club, the International College of Implantologists (Fellow), the North Carolina Dental Society, and the American Dental Association.
Outside the Office
When I’m not practicing dentistry, you’ll usually find me outdoors. My wife, Lauren, and I stay busy with our son, Mac, who loves sports and cheering on the UNC Tar Heels. We also have a Boykin Spaniel named Bertie who keeps things lively at home. I enjoy spending time hunting, fishing, and working on my family’s farm in Pamlico County; it’s a place that feels like therapy to me. And when we get the chance, we’re out on the water chasing billfish, especially Blue Marlin. There’s nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of a big catch.
Giving back to the community is also very important to us. We’re proud to support local organizations and events, including the Rotary Club of Morehead City’s Balsam Range event benefiting Alzheimer’s research, the Chris Perri Memorial Billfish Tournament supporting AML research, and local youth programs like Morehead City Little League and West Carteret Football.
At the end of the day, I feel fortunate to do what I do: helping people feel better, smile more confidently, and be part of a practice that truly feels like family.
